1970s
An era of funny haircuts, bold fashions and spotty teenagers transformed Aggie’s life. One by one, her children grew up, moved away to boarding school or college and then moved on to faraway cities on the East Coast and abroad while the youngest brothers attended high school. Once or twice each year, Aggie joined Al on his global jet-setting adventures, traveling to romantic destinations like Hawaii, Thailand, Portugal, and Japan. Aggie and Al always made time to participate at high school events like recitals and sports, and celebrated the holidays in grand style while maintaining their involvement in St Jerome’s church and the local Slovenian community. In this decade, Aggie also resumed her studies with a focus on computer science during the earliest era of workplace automation. She and Al were also occasional radio stars, substituting for Tony Pekovsek on his music show with witty sketches and homespun humor. And they regularly hosted their friends for bridge games, dinner parties and cocktails.
